Why Won’t DesJarlais Debate?
Congressman Scott DesJarlais has refused to debate. Do you think Congressman DesJarlais should debate and defend the votes he’s made in Congress to cut Medicare and raise the Social Security retiring age to 70.
Why do you think Congressman DesJarlais refuses to debate?
He doesn’t want to face seniors and tell them that he voted to end Medicare and replace it with a voucher system that would cost seniors at least $6,000 a year for their health care.
He went to Congress saying he would cut spending and doesn't want voters to know that he spent a half million dolllars on slick political style mailings, becoming the "Junk Mail King" of Congress.
He's got many episodes of Gilligan's Island to catch up on, and would rather that voters not waste his time.
He doesn’t want to tell Tennesseans that he voted for a budget that adds eight trillion dollars in new debt that would cause Americans to lose 1.7 million jobs.
He’s afraid to tell seniors and families in Tenn. that he voted to raise their retirement age to 70 while he and other members in Congress can retire at 50 with full taxpayer funded benefits.
He doesn’t want to face working and middle class families and explain why he voted to cut taxes for big oil companies, but voted to raise their taxes by 100 billion dollars.
He doesn’t want to explain why he voted AGAINST banning the federal government from spending taxpayer dollars on companies that have outsourced American jobs to China, India, and Mexico.
He might have to explain his vote against giving our soldiers fighting in Afghanistan a pay raise, while protecting his own pay in Congress when Congress fails to pass a budget on time.
He might have to explain that he chose to side with big banks and voted to allow them to foreclose on wounded veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan and the widows of fallen soldiers.
He doesn’t want to tell parents and college students that he voted to slash financial aid for students.
There’s something in his past that he’s running from and that he would rather not discuss with voters.
He thinks he can count on his D.C. lobbyist friends and Super-PACs to buy this election without him ever having to talk to voters.
He's only going to talk to the people that give him a large campaign donation. If you give him lots of money, he'll talk to you!
